Mebane city manager Chris Rollins was feted at a reception Monday afternoon at Mebane’s city hall, as he prepares to step down from a career in city government, most spent with the cities of Graham and Mebane.
Rollins has worked in Mebane for the past 11 years, initially as the assistant city manager, and later succeeding former city manager David Cheek in early 2021.
At his last city council meeting, on July 1, he was honored with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the state’s highest civilian honor, presented by state senator Amy Galey.

Rollins’ retirement (scheduled for Tuesday, July 23) caps a career spanning 35 years in local government. He had previously served 23½ years as the city manager and the assistant city manager in Graham.

Rollins’ wife, Andrea Rollins, retired last week as vice president of business and finance and chief finance officer at Alamance Community College, where she has served in that role since September 2022; prior to that she’d been Alamance County’s budget and management director. Prior to her tenure with Alamance County Government, she spent six years as a staff accountant with a Burlington CPA firm, and 18 years as vice president of finance and administration with Elon Homes and Schools for Children.
