A shooting Friday night in Graham has left two dead and one man charged with first-degree murder.
Graham police responded Friday night at 10:26 to 412 East Hill Street for a reported shooting.
Officers found two victims with gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead at the scene; the other was air-lifted to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, based on the first shooting victim’s death, Derrick Ramont Spencer, black, male, 52, of 3411 Albright Avenue, Graham, has been arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony possession of a stolen firearm, the Graham police department said in a release.
Spencer made his first appearance in Alamance County district court Monday afternoon. He will be assigned a defense attorney through the North Carolina Office of the Capital Defender (Indigent Defense Services), based on a notice that Alamance County district court judge Bryan Norris, Jr. filed Monday afternoon.
Spencer is currently being held without bond at the Alamance County jail for the first-degree murder charge, based on an order that a deputy clerk of court filed Monday on behalf of Alamance County magistrate David Crabbe.
Spencer was given a $1,000 secured bond for the firearm charge, based on a separate order that was also filed Monday on behalf of the same magistrate. His next appearance in district court is scheduled for November 1, according to Spencer’s court file.

The victim who died at the scene was later identified as Jamal Isaiah Thorpe, 28, of Graham.
The second victim, identified by police as Kenneth Uriah Francis, 29, of Burlington, died from his injuries.
Additional charges have not yet been filed in connection with the fatal shooting of Francis.
The Graham police department says the investigation is continuing and that more charges against Spencer are expected.
