Elon’s football team will have a new offensive coordinator after parting with Drew Folmar, while several players have entered the transfer portal.

Folmar, who also was associate head coach and oversaw quarterbacks, completed eight seasons with the Phoenix.

Elon finished a 6-6 season last month, including a 5-3 record in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Phoenix failed to reach the 20-point mark in five of its first six losses, though it scored 30 or more points in all six victories.

Players from the team’s defense have been most active in entering the transfer portal since the end of the season.

Those players include defensive end Cazeem Moore, linebackers Marco Patierno, Brandon Tyson, and Nick Veloz, and defensive back Jonathan Robinson. Tight end Cody Hardy is in the portal, while tight end Tyler Devera, who never played in a game because of an injury after transferring from Stony Brook, also is on the list.

Entry into the portal doesn’t mean those players won’t be with the Phoenix in 2025. After last season, safety Caleb Curtain and defensive tackle Chuck Nnaeto were in the portal but ended up staying at Elon.

  • On Wednesday, North Carolina A&T announced the firing of coach Vincent Brown after two seasons. The Aggies finished a 1-11 season last month with a loss to visiting Elon.
