The start of the season for Elon’s baseball team comes against No. 1-ranked Texas A&M. The three-game series in College Station, Texas, runs Friday through Sunday.
Texas A&M was the 2024 NCAA runner-up, falling to Tennessee in the College World Series championship series.
The series figured to put the Phoenix against Elon alum Jim Schlossnagle, who was Texas A&M’s coach. But he departed the Aggies last summer to take the coaching position at rival Texas.
The home opener for Elon comes with next Tuesday’s game vs. Presbyterian.
Elon was voted sixth out of 12 teams in the Coastal Athletic Association preseason coaches’ poll. UNC Wilmington is the conference favorite.
Elon utility player Kenny Mallory Jr. and pitcher Justin Mitrovich were selected to the All-CAA preseason team. Outfielder Charlie Granatell and utility player Ryan Sprock were on the honorable mention list.
