Clover Garden, Eastern, Southern, Western, Williams fall Tues. night

Southeast Alamance had the only boys’ basketball team from Alamance County to win in the first round of the state playoffs Tuesday night.
Southeast, holding the No. 15 seed in the Class 2-A East Region, blew past 18th-seeded Midway 80-49.
That means the Stallions (22-6) will visit second-seeded Southwest Onslow (22-3) for Friday night’s second-round game.
That will come a week after Southeast played in the Mid-Carolina Conference Tournament championship game. Northwood drilled host Southeast 60-37 last Friday night.
Class 3-A
Eastern Alamance dropped another close game and this one ended its season.
The Eagles, who held the No. 15 seed, lost 77-71 at home to No. 18 seed Triton (19-9).
Eastern (16-10) rallied after scoring seven first-quarter points but couldn’t overcome Ro’mello Pegues’ 24 points.
The Eagles lost 67-65 in the Central 3-A Conference Tournament championship game to Roxboro Person on Saturday at Orange.
- No. 25 seed Western Alamance fell 53-45 at No. 7 seed Southern Lee. The Warriors, who trailed 28-24 at halftime, ended their season at 13-12.
- No. 31 seed Williams couldn’t keep up with second-seeded Southern Durham, losing 92-51. That left the Bulldogs, who managed 19 second-half points, with an 11-16 record. Jaeden Smith’s 13 points paced Williams.
Last week in the Central 3-A Conference Tournament, fifth-seeded Williams edged host Western Alamance, the fourth seed, by 51-49 in a quarterfinal game. The Bulldogs outscored Western 14-8 in the fourth quarter. Colby Elliot’s 22 points and Smith’s 12 points led the way.
Also, seventh-seeded Southern Alamance’s season ended with a 70-45 loss at Orange in the Central 3-A Conference quarterfinals. The Patriots finished 4-21.
Class 1-A
No. 32 seed Clover Garden lost 79-57 at top-seeded Washington in the East Region game. The Grizzlies finished 10-13.
