There’s another full dose of non-conference games involving Alamance County football teams Friday night. For five of the teams, it will be their final non-conference games of the season.
All the games begin at 7:00 p.m. with the exception of Southern Alamance’s game at Southeast Guilford at 7:30 p.m.
Eastern Guilford at Southeast Alamance
Both teams are 2-0.
Southeast Alamance will be in its home opener for its first-ever meeting with the Wildcats, though there are connections between the teams.
Southeast coach Tony Aguilar’s first assignment as a head coach came with Eastern Guilford. He left that position in 2023 to start the program at Southeast.
Eastern Guilford began last year at 0-3, so the Wildcats are looking for a full reversal.
Rockingham County at Western Alamance
Both teams hold 1-1 records with road victories at Southwest Guilford.
The teams were in the same conference the last time they met in the spring 2021 season. Western has won the past eight meetings.
The Warriors will be in their home opener.
Doug Robertson, who has coached at Reidsville, Roxboro Person, Eastern Guilford, Thomasville, and Greensboro Page, is in his second season in charge at Rockingham County. The Cougars have lost six games in 2024 and 2025 combined, failing to score in four of those – including last week in a 39-0 home result against Magna Vista (Virginia).
Orange at Williams
Fritz Hessenthaler, formerly of Southern Alamance, brings a team to Alamance County for the first time since becoming Orange’s coach in June.
The Panthers (0-2) lost Friday by 34-22 to Chapel Hill in their second consecutive home game. Orange had 230 rushing yards and 5 passing yards, keeping in tune with past Hessenthaler teams.
Williams (1-1) will play its home opener. Both of its 2024 losses came at Burlington Memorial Stadium.
The Bulldogs have won the last five meetings vs. Orange, scoring at least 28 points in each of those games.
Bubba Sims, a former Southeast Alamance standout, is listed on the Williams online roster as a safety. The senior wasn’t on the team’s preseason roster and hasn’t played in the team’s first two games.
Southern Alamance at Southeast Guilford
There have been stretches when these teams were in the same conference, though the last meeting came in the spring 2021 season.
Since 2005, Southeast Guilford is 13-0 against the Patriots.
This year, Southern Alamance (0-2) hasn’t scored on offense through two games.
Southeast Guilford (2-0) averaged 47 points in victories against Western Guilford and Ragsdale.
Eastern Alamance at Central Davidson
Eastern Alamance (0-2) has given up 20 points in each game.
Central Davidson (2-0) drilled visiting Winston-Salem Atkins 68-14 last week after a season-opening 15-6 victory at Carson.
The only Alamance County team to face Central Davidson, which is located in Lexington, in the past 15 years is Graham, which won in 2015 and 2016 against the Spartans.
Eden Morehead at Cummings
Tony McCants, who coached Southern Alamance in 2024, is Eden Morehead’s coach. The Panthers (0-2) didn’t score in losses to Northeast Guilford and Providence Grove.
Eden Morehead’s Trooper Wright had received considerable attention since his left arm was amputated last November as a result of an ATV accident. He’s playing his senior season with the Panthers.
Cummings standout running back Devin Witherspoon is expected to miss his second game in a row following an injury in the season opener, coach Terrance Alford said.
Cummings won meetings with Eden Morehead in each of the past two seasons.
Graham at East Chapel Hill
Graham (0-2) has lost its last eight road games.
East Chapel Hill (1-1), in its first season under former Eastern Alamance assistant coach Ricky Morton, lost 49-0 last week vs. Green Hope.
This will be the Wildcats’ third home game.
