Strong basketball backgrounds and long service to the school were among the reasons for the induction of the newest six-member class into the Eastern Alamance Athletic Hall of Fame during the weekend.
The inductees were former basketball standouts Junior Robinson and Terri Rogers; multi-sport athlete Jerry Broome; athlete and coach Keith Bowland; former public address announcer Mel Dellinger; and ex-principal Dave Ebert.

Robinson, a 2014 graduate, racked up 2,228 career points in boys’ basketball. He set school records with 554 made free throws and 515 assists. He played collegiately for Mount St. Mary’s, where he was the Northeast Conference Player of the Year and an NCAA Tournament participant. He has played professionally in Europe.
Rogers, a 2013 graduate, was a conference Player of the Year and selected for participation in all-star games following her senior season of girls’ basketball. She later played in college for Catawba.
Bowland, a 1973 graduate and participant in football, wrestling and baseball, spent more than two decades on the football coaching staff. He also became a baseball umpire with several high-level assignments.
Broome, a 1976 graduate, was a standout in baseball and football, twice receiving conference Player of the Year distinctions in baseball. He was selected for a postseason all-star football game. He went on to play both sports at Guilford College.
Dellinger was on the microphone and helped run the scoreboard clock for basketball games for more than 20 years. He was considered an ambassador for the school.
Ebert was principal from 2005-17, when he played a role in completion of several athletics projects and facility improvements.
Inductees were recognized during Friday night’s football game vs. Graham in advance of Saturday’s induction ceremony on campus. Robinson was unable to attend because of overseas professional basketball obligations.
