Alamance Community College’s trustees voted 11-0 Monday night to award ACC president Dr. Ken Ingle a $10,000 raise as part of his annual job performance evaluation.
The trustees voted unanimously to award Ingle the raise following a half-hour closed session at the conclusion of their latest monthly meeting. The raise is subject to the availability of state and county funding and requires approval by the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC), in keeping with state regulations.
This marks the second annual $10,000 raise that the trustees have voted to award to Ingle as part of his annual job performance evaluation. The trustees previously entered into a closed session during their meeting on February 12 to discuss his job performance.
Ingle’s new salary will be approximately $247,000 per year, starting July 1.
Under the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) code, the state-funded portion of Ingle’s salary, like those of all 58 N.C. community college presidents, is based on the number of full-time equivalent students enrolled at ACC.
While the SBCC sets the salaries for the presidents at each of the 58 N.C. community colleges, many community colleges provide a county-funded supplement for their presidents in order to attract and retain the best leaders, ACC president Dr. Ken Ingle has previously told The Alamance News. Alamance County’s commissioners have designated a portion of county current expense funding to supplement the salary for ACC’s president.
There was no change in the term of the president’s employment contract, which is currently scheduled to run through June 30, 2028. ACC’s trustees had voted last year to extend Ingle’s contract by three years.
Voting in favor of the raise Monday night were: ACC trustee chairman Julie Scott Emmons; vice chairman Ken Walker; and trustees Grant Brooks, Jim Butler, Walter Britt, Steve Carter, Dr. Roslyn Crisp, Pete Glidewell, Tammy Karnes, Sylvia Munoz, and Blake Williams. Trustee Bill Gomory was absent.
Ingle was hired in February 2024 to succeed longtime ACC president Dr. Algie Gatewood, who retired in June 2023.
Ingle previously served as the chief officer of information services at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
