Cummings athlete D’Anna Cotton was the runner-up in one event and placed in two others in the Adidas Indoor Track Nationals at Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Cotton’s 41-foot, 1-inch effort in the triple jump gave her the second-place spot Friday.

Cotton ended up third in the long jump at 19 feet, 5¼ inches Sunday.
Cummings teammates Diamond Moore and Kaili Payne also placed in the long jump. Moore was fifth at 18-4¼ and Payne was seventh at 18-2¼.
Cotton was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.69 seconds in Sunday’s finals. Cotton had better times in the preliminaries (8.58) and semifinals (8.67). The event began with 33 entrants.
Also in the 60 hurdles, Honesti Trollinger of Cummings had a time of 8.91 seconds Friday to advance to the semifinals and Payne checked in at 9.03.
Moore was 10th in the triple jump at 37-1¼.
Coming up
Attention turns to outdoor track and field. The Cummings Invitational will be held Saturday, with at least 21 schools expected to participate in competition that will include boys and girls.
