Two new spots will open at former O’Charley’s Burlington location

Things have begun to percolate at the former location of O’Charley’s as a pair of restaurant chains prepares to make their debuts in the Burlington market.

On March 31, Burlington’s inspections department issued a building permit for Dutch Bros Coffee and Guthrie’s Chicken Fingers to shop in this high-traffic location at 521 Huffman Mill Road. Situated near the shopping center that’s anchored by Burlington Coat Factory and Academy Sports, this property has sat vacant since the closure of O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar some years ago.

This proposed double booking will mark the first location in Alamance County for both Dutch Bros and Guthrie’s.

Although relatively new to North Carolina, Guthrie’s has been around for more than six decades – during which time, it has spread from his hub in Auburn, Alabama to include about 75 locations. Dutch Bros, meanwhile, has a much more recent origin – which harks back to humble pushcart that its founders launched in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1992. Even so, the company’s latest quarterly statement reported more than 1,100 locations operated either by franchisees or by the company directly.
