Robbie Davis ran for two touchdowns in his first game as the starting quarterback for the Williams football team in a 48-6 season-opening victory against visiting Cummings on Friday night at Burlington Memorial Stadium.

The result came in the coaching debut of Darius Pinnix at Cummings. The Mid-Carolina Conference game began after more than a two-hour delay because of storms.
The Bulldogs were less than eight minutes away from blanking the Cavaliers for the second year in a row in the matchup of Burlington high schools.
Jallante Van Hook and Jayvyn Yellock scored on first-quarter runs for Williams.

Akireon Robertson’s 2-yard run on the second snap of the second quarter helped the Bulldogs stretch the margin to 21-0. Davis, a sophomore, threw a touchdown pass to Nate Starr on the next Williams possession.

Davis ran in from 30 and 14 yards for the final two touchdowns of the first half, which ended with Williams ahead 42-0. Jackson Gould ran in from 2 yards out on the game’s final snap for the Bulldogs’ only second-half points.

The second half was played with a running clock, with the game ending at about 11:25 p.m. (after a rain-delayed 9:15 start).
Three players were kicked out of the game late in the second quarter following a post-whistle fracas. Those were listed as disqualifications by the officiating crew.
Eastern Alamance 42, Eastern Guilford 14: Thursday night at Gibsonville, running back Sammy Raphael rushed for three touchdowns as the visiting Eagles avenged a loss from last year.
Raphael, a senior, began his high school career in Eastern Guilford’s program.

Quarterback Braxton Bullard threw touchdown passes to Hunter Eichmann and Jusiah Goldston.
Jamez Cochran also ran for a touchdown for Eastern Alamance, which led 21-7 at halftime.

Jacob Currie had an interception for Eastern Alamance’s defense.
Southeast Alamance 42, Orange 11: Thursday night at Haw River, Tyler Jackson threw for five touchdowns as the host Stallions rolled.

Two of the TD throws went to Joseph Gibbs, while Drew Easter, Logan Luang-Sy, Jatayvion McMillian and Major Hubbard all had one scoring grab. Gibbs checked in with 100 receiving yards on five catches.

Jackson was 17-for-21 for 275 yards with two interceptions. Isaiah Tumey ran for a touchdown. Easter and Jaud Goosby were each credited with 11 tackles on defense.
It marked Southeast’s third victory against Orange in a 13-game stretch counting last year’s opener and a first-round game in the 2025 state playoffs.
Orange, which is under second-year coach Fritz Hessenthaler (formerly of Southern Alamance), received 204 rushing yards from Markus Thomas. He carried 35 yards and ended up with the most rushing yards by an Orange player in almost eight years. The Panthers were within 21-11 in the third quarter, but on the next play from scrimmage Jackson threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Hubbard.
