Graham’s planning board has recommended a rezoning that the board’s vice chairman characterized as “more like a technical correction.”
Still, the “correction” was sought by Angela Hall, who runs a financial planning center at 128 Moore Street, just off South Main Street and beside the Sheetz gas station.
For some reason, the city left in place a zoning designation for a South Main Street “overlay district.”
The pending request, which was recommended unanimously, 6-0, by the planning board would remove a 0.056 acre portion of a 0.411 acre property.
The remainder of the property is zoned B-2 (General Commercial) and upon removal of the overlay zoning, the front property would retain its underlying B-2 zoning.
Hall wants to be able to add some parking to the front of what was once a residential property in order to allow parking for two to three customers each day and, in doing so, also to remove a requirement for installing a sidewalk in front of the business.
The planning board voted unanimously for the change; voting in favor were board chairman Dean Ward, vice chairman John Wooten, and board members Michael Benesch, Chad Huffine, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, and Richard Shevlin. Planning board member Tony Bailey was absent.
