Some teams gear up for final For several Alamance County football teams, this week marks the final non-conference games prior to the beginning of Mid-Carolina Conference competition.
Here’s a look at the matchups for Friday night, plus the Western Alamance/Rockingham County game that is set for Thursday night:
Western Alamance at Rockingham County
The Warriors (2-0) venture on the road for the first time this season.
Both teams have home victories against Southwest Guilford. Rockingham County (1-1) lost last week by 41-12 at Magna Vista in Ridgeway, Virginia.
Western and Rocking-ham County were at one time in the same conference. Western has won nine consecutive meetings with the Cougars since a loss in 2012. The Warriors won 28-8 last year at home.
Southeast Guilford at Southern Alamance
The Patriots (2-0) will play in their home opener after avenging two defeats in August games.
Last week’s 30-28 victory at Patrick Henry in Roanoke, Virginia, came despite Southern playing most of the game without senior standout receiver/defensive back C.J. McAdoo, who suffered an ankle injury and is likely to miss this week’s game. That could bring more attention to cornerback Andrick Pulliam, whose tackle on Patrick Henry’s late-game two-point conversion attempt preserved Southern’s lead.
Southeast Guilford (1-1) is coming off a 28-14 loss at Ragsdale.
Until winning last year by 42-21 at Southeast Guilford, Southern had lost every meeting in the series since at least 2005 – a total of 13 matchups during that span.
Southeast Alamance at Eastern Guilford
Southeast (2-0) plays on the road for the first time this season.
This matchup takes Southeast coach Tony Aguilar back to Gibsonville for a game for the first time since he was Eastern Guilford’s coach from 2019-22. He left the Wildcats to take the Southeast job with the opening of the school in 2023.
Eastern Guilford (0-1) had its scheduled game last week postponed at Williams.
Southeast defeated the Wildcats 33-21 last year at home.
Central Davidson at Eastern Alamance
The Eagles (1-1) will be in the middle game of a three-game homestand.
Eastern handed Central Davidson its only regular-season setback last year by winning 32-31 in Lexington. The Spartans went on to an 11-win season.
Eastern’s point total marked the most allowed by Central Davison in 2025 until a 53-20 fourth-round playoff loss at Reidsville.
Central Davison (1-1) won 35-7 last week at Atkins after falling 15-6 at Carson in its opener.
Cummings at Eden Morehead
The Cavaliers (0-2) leave Burlington for the first time this season.
Cummings, which will be in only its second non-league game, has defeated the Panthers in each of the past three seasons, never giving up more than 13 points in those games.
Eden Morehead (0-2) has been outscored 89-21 in losses at Northeast Guilford and at home to Providence Grove.
Williams’ schedule updates
Williams doesn’t play this week because Orange backed out of a game that was scheduled to be played in Hillsborough. That development was revealed last winter.
Williams is amid what has become a stretch of back-to-back weeks without a game. Last week’s scheduled encounter with Eastern Guilford was called off after a few Williams players were involved in an automobile accident about three hours prior to the slated kick-off time.
Meanwhile, after Graham dropped its varsity team for this season this summer, Williams filled that vacant date on the docket with a matchup scheduled for September 18 at High Point Andrews.
Williams coach Patrick Stokes said Tuesday that nothing has been confirmed regarding a make-up date for the Eastern Guilford game. Both teams have scheduled open dates September 25.
