Turnout during the opening days of early voting this fall has, so far, blown away the figures from the last midterm election in 2022.
According to Alamance County’s elections office, a total of 13,553 people in Alamance County had cast their ballots by the time that the polls closed on Tuesday – the fourth day of early voting ahead of the general election on November 3. This total amounts to a 46 percent jump over the 9,280 voters that the elections office had logged by the fourth day of early voting in 2022.
This robust voter participation hasn’t been evenly dispersed across the five polling locations that the county’s board of elections has activated for early voting this fall.
According to the elections office, the Graham Recreation Center has drawn the biggest crowds, with 3,594 voters casting their ballots at this location by the end of the day Tuesday. The Kernodle Senior Center in Burlington has come in second with 3,215 ballots, while another 3,162 voters have done their civic duty at the Mebane Arts & Community Center. The fourth most patronized site, with 2,163 ballots, has been the Elon South Gym, while the Elmira Community Center in Burlington has rounded out the roster with 1,419 ballots.

All five of these sites will remain open until the end of early voting on Saturday, October 31. During this period, voters who live in Alamance County can go to any of the five sites to cast their ballots.
Weekday hours at each location run from 8:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Early voting will also take place from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24; from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25; and from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.
