Here’s a look at Friday night’s games in the Mid-Carolina Conference:

Western Alamance at Williams

Both teams have lost twice this month, knocking them out of title contention in the league in advance of this meeting at Burlington Memorial Stadium. The winner clinches a winning regular-season record.

Williams (4-2 overall, 2-2 Mid-Carolina Conference) goes for its eighth consecutive victory in the series.

Western (5-3, 2-2) had its highest point total since August with last week’s 27-26 escape at Cummings.

Longtime Williams assistant coach Chuck Crenshaw joined the Western coaching staff this year. Crenshaw, now a retired car dealer, had been away from the high school football scene for several years.

But his association with first-year Western coach Drew Hambright drew him back to the sidelines this year.

Crenshaw had spent about 20 years on the Williams staff under former coach Sam Story, also assisting with the Turrentine Middle School program.

Cummings at Southern Alamance

The Patriots (6-2, 2-2), playing their regular-season home finale, aim for their third consecutive victory.

Southern has won its last five meetings with Cummings since the Cavaliers won in 2010.

Cummings (1-7, 0-5) will be in its final conference game. A victory is necessary to avoid a solo spot in last place.

Southeast Alamance at Roxboro Person

Southeast (8-0, 4-0), which was off last week, can clinch at least a share of the regular-season championship by repeating a victory against the Rockets (2-6, 1-3).

Southeast went to Roxboro and defeated the Rockets 51-14 on September 25 in a non-conference game, which was added to their schedules to fill voids after Graham dropped its varsity team for this season. This week’s encounter counts in the conference standings.

Eastern Alamance is off

The Eagles (6-2, 4-1) await next week’s home showdown with Southeast.

Eastern didn’t fill a schedule opening created by Graham not competing this year. Eastern coach John Kirby said inquiries were made with schools to fill the spot, but because of logistics and travel distances nothing worked out.
