A man from the outskirts of Ossipee has been arrested for pilfering HVAC units from churches and other locations before selling off their components to scrap dealers.
Court records indicate that Bradley Richard Hall was initially apprehended in Caswell County on Tuesday after he allegedly cut through a fence to access an air conditioning unit at Smith’s Corner Store along US Highway 158 West.
Since then, the sheriff’s offices in Alamance and Rockingham counties have filed additional charges against the 34-year-old white male of 3620 Luke’s Court, Elon – an address near Alamance County’s border with Caswell.
Among the locations that Hall is accused of victimizing are Crossway Church and Gilliam Primitive Baptist Church in Alamance County, Bucky’s Grocery and Camp Springs United Methodist Church in Caswell County, and Ruffin Stacey Baptist and St. James Baptist in Rockingham County.
Hall faces six charges of felony larceny for this collection of thefts in addition to the three felony counts he initially received for breaking and entering, property damage, and larceny after breaking and entering at Smith’s Corner Store. In the meantime, the sheriff’s office in Rockingham County has charged Hall with 10 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense for offloading the copper and air conditioning compressors from the ill-gotten HVACs.
As of Wednesday, Hall remained in custody in Caswell County under a $60,000 bond set by court officials in Rockingham County, $30,000 in Alamance County, and $35,000 in Caswell.
