A 63-year-old man from Burlington has been arrested for trafficking fentanyl after a three-month investigation by two local law enforcement agencies.
Arthur Lecose Burton was taken into custody last Wednesday after the office of Alamance County’s sheriff conducted this joint inquiry in tandem with an opioid violent crime unit within Burlington’s municipal police department.
According to the sheriff’s office, the two agencies accumulated enough evidence to file five felony charges against the 63-year-old black male of 504 West Webb Avenue in Burlington. These charges include trafficking in fentanyl, the sale and delivery of fentanyl, the felony level possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with the intent to sell or deliver the drug, and maintaining a dwelling for storing a controlled substance.
Burton also faces another felony charge for allegedly selling illegal narcotics within 1,000 square feet of a daycare. Meanwhile, he is accused of a misdemeanor for possessing drug paraphernalia which his arrest warrant describes as plastic baggies, digital scales, and notebook paper that he used to wrap up the contraband.
Court records indicate that a bond isn’t authorized for Burton’s offenses.
