Wade Boteler of Burlington placed 56th in the North Carolina Amateur last month at Bermuda Run Country Club’s East Course.
Boteler had scores of 77, 72, 79, and 69 for his 9-over 297.
Mebane’s Holden Yakola, a recent graduate of Alamance Christian School, missed the cut after rounds of 74 and 80. Burlington’s Simon Boteler was done after two rounds of 80.
Rich Willis, a Clemson golfer from Cramerton, was the winner at 12-under 276.
Mathews finishes in upper half of field
Emily Mathews of Mebane placed 13th in the North Carolina Women’s Amateur last month at Statesville Country Club.
Mathews, a member of the Virginia Tech women’s golf team, shot 6-over 223 across three rounds. She had scores of 74, 73, 75.
Jenna Kim of Raleigh was the champion at 6 under among 32 entrants.

The 38th edition of Southwick Amateur is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Southwick Golf Course.
