Sheriff’s deputies this week arrested a Burlington man for cocaine possession after he was allegedly involved in the fentanyl overdose death of someone to whom he had sold the drug.
The incident began on December 29, when sheriff’s deputies responded to an apparent opioid overdose. Subsequently Gregory Isaiah Thomas, black, male, age 33, of 314 Hooker Street, Burlington, was identified as the suspect who sold fentanyl to the victim, leading to the overdose death.
Thomas was arrested Tuesday and charged with the sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance, according to the sheriff’s office press release of Thursday, January 6. Additionally, during the arrest, officers found cocaine in his possession, resulting in additional charges for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $20,000.
