Burlington police arrest Mocksville pair in convenience store shooting

Police in Burlington have arrested two individuals for their alleged roles in a shooting that left one person seriously injured at an area convenience store last week. The shooting took place at the gas pumps in front of the convenience store on Monday afternoon, with the shooter driving away.

The city’s police department has announced that, on Monday, its officers took 28-year-old Michael Dillon Daniels into custody for the shooting, which broke out at Huff’s along

Maple Avenue just south of I-85/40 last Tuesday afternoon, June 7. The gunfire ultimately wounded another 28-year-old male – who, according to the police department, was still hospitalized in stable condition as of this Tuesday morning.

A resident of Mocksville, Daniels faces the charge of attempted first degree murder for his alleged role in the attack. He is also accused of the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon and of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and with the result of serious injury. Daniels has been placed under a $300,000 bond since his arrest.

Also arrested on Monday was 27-year-old Samantha Kaye Vogel of Mocksville. Vogel is accused of aiding and abetting Daniels in the attempted first degree murder. Her bond has been set at $50,000.
