Burlington police are investigating two unexplained deaths, a possible murder and a hit and run, that happened between late Friday night and early Monday morning.
The newest incident began early Monday morning (5:45 a.m.) when police responded to the 100 block of Lunsford Drive regarding a shooting.
Officers found 21-year-old Nykeim Zantwan Thompson of Mebane dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside an apartment.
On Friday, just before midnight, police responded to the 800 block of North Anthony Street where they found 29-year-old Rashawn Lamar Alston lying in the middle of the road, the apparent victim of a hit and run. He later died on the way to the hospital.
The Burlington Police Department is actively seeking anyone with information regarding either of these or any other active investigation.
