Burlington police have today obtained a warrant for the arrest of Chauncey Dishawn Chandler of Burlington in connection with a shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 4.
Officers responded at 3:30 a.m. that morning to the area of Hilton Road and North Graham-Hopedale Road where they found a 62-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man had been robbed, and the shooting occurred in a vacant parking lot at the intersection of Hilton Road and North Graham-Hopedale Road.
The victim was airlifted to an area hospital, according to police, where he is currently in critical condition.
The suspect has been identified as Chauncey Dishawn Chandler, who has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; robbery with a dangerous weapon; and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Chandler’s whereabouts are currently unknown, and the investigation is still ongoing, according to police.
