A man wanted for a non-fatal shooting in Burlington was apprehended in Wake County earlier this week.

On Tuesday afternoon, Burlington’s police department announced that Chauncey Dishawn Chandler was taken into custody in Raleigh – some three weeks after he allegedly shot a 62-year-old male in the course of an armed robbery on April 4.

According to the city’s police department, the 40-year-old Burlington resident stole an undisclosed sum of cash after he shot the victim in a vacant parking lot near the intersection of Hilton and Graham-Hopedale roads. The police department had consequently charged Chandler with a number of crimes, including robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and the infliction of serious injury, and the illegal passion of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.

The police department notes that Chandler was ultimately captured with the assistance of the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation as well as the office of Wake County’s sheriff. He has since been brought back to Alamance County, where he is currently in jail under a $250,000 bond.
