Burlington will be the site of spring championships in boys’ tennis and baseball based on the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s selection of championship venues.
There will be two weekends involving boys’ tennis finals. The Class 3-A individual states will be held May 9-10 at Burlington Tennis Center.
The following weekend, dual team state finals will take place May 17 at Burlington Tennis Center, with Class 2-A and Class 4-A beginning in the morning and Class 1-A and Class 3-A starting in the early afternoon.
The other individual states for boys’ tennis will be at Cary Tennis Center (for Class 1-A), Ting Park in Holly Springs (for Class 2-A), and Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh (for Class 4-A).
Burlington Tennis Center was first used as a dual team championship site in 2000. This year will mark the 20th time the finals are contested there.
Burlington Athletic Stadium and Ting Stadium in Holly Springs again will be the sites for the baseball championship series. Those best-of-3 series will take place May 30-31.
Two classifications will be assigned to each site. Those will be announced after the finalists have been determined.
Boys’ golf state tournaments May 12-13 will be held at Longleaf Golf and Family Club in Southern Pines for Class 1-A and Gates Four Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville for Class 3-A. The Fayetteville site is a first-time location for the state tournament.
The Class 2-A tournament will be at Pinehurst No. 6, while Class 4-A will be held May 12 at Pinehurst No. 2 and May 13 at Pinehurst No. 8.
Track and field championships again will be at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro. Class 1-A and Class 3-A will be held May 16, while Class 2-A and Class 4-A is set for May 17.
Lacrosse finals will be held May 30 or 31 at Durham County Memorial Stadium for the third year in a row.
Girls’ soccer title games will be May 30 or 31 at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews.
Softball title series are May 30-31, with two classes going to UNC Greensboro Softball Stadium and two classes to Duke Softball Stadium in Durham.
