Burlington’s city clerk returns for encore tenure

After a short stint in the city’s planning department, long-time municipal staff member Beverly Smith has resumed her old job as Burlington’s city clerk, which she had previously held on an interim basis.

Burlington’s mayor Jim Butler (far right) marked Smith’s return to this post with a ceremonial oath of office on Tuesday which Smith took in the company of her husband, Burlington’s retired fire chief Jay Smith (second from right), and her father, Bill Davis, a retired municipal building inspector (far left).
