Popeye’s Restaurant on South Main Street in Graham remains closed due to damage from a car that crashed into the building in the middle of Wednesday night.
According to Graham’s police department, an 18-year-old girl operating a Nissan SUV struck the building at 720 South Main Street, Graham. Police and firefighters responded at 1:49 a.m.
A 17-year-old female passenger was taken by EMS to the hospital for treatment of what police describe as “non-life threatening injuries.”
According to police, “Based on the investigation thus far, the passenger was hanging on to the exterior of the [car] at the time of the collision.”
According to police, “No impairment is suspected and charges are pending for the driver.”
The restaurant is closed while repairs are undertaken on the south side of the building. Police described the damage as “significant.” A note on the drive-thru Thursday afternoon says the restaurant expects to re-open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
