A 19-year-old resident of Chatham County is behind bars this week after he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted two juveniles at a location in Alamance County.
Edwin Silva-Badillo was ultimately taken into custody on Thursday based on the results of an investigation that the office of Alamance County’s sheriff initiated nearly a month ago.

According to the sheriff’s office, the agency’s special victims unit received a report on June 10 that two juveniles had been kidnapped on May 13 and were sexually assaulted while they were held against their wills somewhere in Alamance County. The sheriff’s special victims unit went on to identify Silva-Badillo as the alleged perpetrator of these crimes.
According to the sheriff’s office, the 19-year-old white male has since been arrested at his home at 331 Marlon Drive, Chapel Hill. He currently faces two felony counts, each, of first degree forcible sex offense, first degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and second degree kidnapping.
Silva-Badillo has been placed under a $200,000 bond since his arrest.
