Cleaning service employee accused of theft from clients

Police in Gibsonville have arrested an employee of a local cleaning service who allegedly pilfered a firearm and some jewelry from two of the company’s clients.

James Francis Provost II was taken into custody on Thursday after an investigation into the alleged thefts led officers to this 31-year-old white male from 206 Aloha Drive in Graham.

According to Gibsonville’s police department, Provost initially came under suspicion when it emerged that he had been in the homes of both victims as an employee of Gibsonville-based AnD Services. The department’s investigators also discovered that Provost had done business with pawnshops in Burlington, where some of the stolen items were later recovered.

As a result of these discoveries, the town’s police department was able to obtain warrants for Provost’s arrest on charges of felony larceny, the larceny of a firearm, and obtaining property by false pretense. The agency’s officers eventually served the warrants on Thursday with the assistance of Graham’s municipal police department.

Provost was placed under a $5,000 bond since his arrest.

In the meantime, Gibsonville’s investigators continue to look at Provost’s year-long tenure as an employee of AnD services to see if he may have been responsible for thefts from any of the company’s other clients.

The town’s police department adds that anyone who suspects they may have been cleaned out by Provost in more ways than one to call 336-449-6677 to speak to a detective.
