Commissioners tap Sapp for county recreation board

Alamance County’s board of commissioners has selected Travis Sapp to fill an opening on the county’s recreation and parks commission.

The commissioners unanimously approved Sapp’s appointment on Monday on a recommendation from the recreation commission, which reportedly endorsed him over five other applicants during its latest meeting in February. The county’s recreation department has identified the other contenders for this position as Josh Adkins, Stephanie Enoch, Michael Mahon, Kelly Ronnow and Chris Walker.

An Alamance Country resident who works for UNC-Chapel Hill, Sapp and his family are “frequent participants” in the recreation department’s programs according to Brian Baker, the county’s recreation director.

“He does archery instruction for us,” Baker added in his presentation to the commissioners, “and he’s a good fit for our department.”
