Cummings has five girls in at least one individual event, while two others are relay participants in Class 1-A/2-A. The Cavaliers were state team runners-up last year.

Several of the Cavaliers will be busy. D’Anna Cotton (high jump, long jump, triple jump, 55-meter hurdles), Brooke Packingham (long jump, triple jump, 55 hurdles, 800 relay), Taylor Jordan (long jump, triple jump, 55 hurdles, 800 relay), Honesti Trollinger (500, 800 relay, 1,600 relay), Whitney Griffis (shot put, 1,600 relay), Jamoni Jones (800 relay, 1,600 relay) and Kiyani Jenkins (1,600 relay) are entered.

Cummings doesn’t have any boys’ entrants as senior sprinter Jonathan Paylor, who last year set the 300 dash meet record, isn’t participating.

State championships are set for Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.

The Class 3-A finals will be held Thursday with several area entrants.

Western Alamance is entered in the girls’ 200-yard medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Warriors Elizabeth Merlette (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Kensley Gasaway (500 freestyle, 100 backstroke) are in multiple individual events.

Abigale Robinson of Williams will compete in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. The Williams 400 freestyle relay also qualified.

In diving, Western Alamance’s Michaela Bentley and Courtney Moore are entrants.

For boys, Western’s 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay are state qualifiers.

There are no listed qualifiers from Alamance County schools for the Class 1-A/2-A championships Friday.

Individual regionals for boys are set for Friday and Saturday to determine qualifiers for next week’s state tournament.

The Class 2-A Mideast Regional will be held at Eden Morehead. In Class 3-A, the Mideast Regional is at Union Pines.
