The Turrentine Middle School Trojans, who won their eighth consecutive countywide D.A.R.E. Middle School Basketball Classic championship last month at Williams High School.
Second-year coach Mike Neal’s team defeated the Hawfields Huskies 46-43 on eighth-grader Brayden Lloyd’s 3-point basket at the buzzer.
Turrentine earlier defeated Western Middle School 59-48.
The Hawfields Middle School Huskies girls’ basketball team, which won the countywide D.A.R.E. Middle School Basketball Classic last month at Williams High School.
The Huskies, coached by John Gillis, completed an undefeated regular season, then won the tournament for the first time by defeating Woodlawn Middle School 47-28 in the final.
Hawfields earlier defeated Western Middle School 50-10.
