An area resident has been arrested along with his alleged out-of-state accomplice for the theft of heavy construction equipment that had previously vanished from South Carolina.
According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, the ill-gotten skid steer loader was ultimately spotted on Friday along Blue Moon Trail.
The sheriff’s office was able to confirm the vehicle’s provenance after it obtained a search warrant for this property, which is located north of Burlington’s municipal limits. In addition, deputies discovered a stolen moped along with a number of firearms.
Thanks to these finds, the sheriff’s office arrested Rodney Eugene Poe, Jr. of 3495 Blue Moon Trail. The 36-year-old white male is accused of the felony-level possession of stolen property, the felon-level possession of a stolen vehicle, the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
Taken into custody at the same time as Poe was Robert Jeffry McHenry. A 46-year-old white male from 435 Baily Road in Buffalo, South Carolina, McHenry faces the same charges as Poe – minus the firearms violation.
Both Poe and McHenry were reportedly out on bond for other crimes when they were arrested for these offenses. They were initially held without bond pending their first appearance before a judge.
