Early morning traffic stop results in firearms charges against driver

A Snow Camp man has been arrested for firearms violations after being stopped by sheriff’s deputies for a traffic violation.

The traffic stop took place early Tuesday morning about 2:00 a.m. on South NC 87.

When deputies approached the vehicle, they detected the odor of marijuana, the sheriff’s office reports.

A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a stolen firearm in the trunk.

The driver, Martayvin Leeshawn Clark, was charged with possessing a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm. Clark is a 20-year-old black male of 904 George Roberson Lane, Snow Camp.

Clark has pending charges, according to the sheriff’s office, of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and shooting into an occupied dwelling.  His bond was set at $60,000.
