Eastern Guilford’s wrestling team was the overwhelming winner in the Andy Hawks Duals on Saturday at Cummings High School.
The Wildcats whipped each opponent along the way, securing the title with an 82-0 trouncing of Southern Alamance in the championship meet of the eight-team tournament.
Bartlett Yancey topped Eastern Alamance 51-24 in the third-place encounter.
Eastern Guilford reached the final after beating Eastern Alamance 78-6. Southern used a 61-18 victory against Bartlett Yancey to advance to the title matchup.
Fifth place went to Williams, which tied with Graham but won via a tiebreaker. Cummings defeated Jordan-Matthews for seventh place.
The Most Outstanding Wrestler award went to Kelvin Daniels, a 170-pounder for Eastern Guilford.
Cummings heavyweight Bobby Logan was undefeated during the tournament.
The duals are held in memory of Hawks, the longtime coach who finished his career at Cummings. He died in 2019 at age 65.
