Kevin Jermyn, who has been Elon’s cross country coach and associate head coach for track and field, has taken the position of cross country coach at Duke.

The announcement came Tuesday. He’ll be the men’s and women’s cross country coach and assistant track and field coach (for distance runners) at Duke, where he previously coached.

Jermyn spent seven seasons at Elon. The Phoenix won the past five Coastal Athletic Association women’s cross country championships. With his assistance, Elon also won three straight CAA women’s outdoor track and field titles (from 2021-23) and the inaugural CAA indoor championship meet in 2023.

He’s a five-time CAA Coach of the Year for women’s cross country. During his time, Elon had its first qualifier for the NCAA championships in cross country (Maria Ahm in spring 2021 when the event was moved from the fall because of the pandemic).

Jermyn was Duke’s women’s cross country coach and associate head track and field coach from 2000-14, twice receiving ACC Coach of the Year honors.
