Elon’s elected leaders have apparently found a new municipal flag that they can feel proud to fly at full staff.
During a regularly-scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Elon’s town council unanimously endorsed a proposed design for this banner, which will replace the one currently on display in front of the town’s municipal building.
The council had previously commissioned this flag, which features the town’s official logo on a solid, forest-green field, after rejecting several other proposals from a graphic artist in the municipality’s employ.
In order to make sure that the council had no second thoughts about its selection, the town’s staff posted a full-sized printout of the requested design on the wall of the council’s meeting chamber prior to Tuesday’s proceedings. In the end, this “life-sized” rendering turned out to be just what the council had ordered.

“I like that version,” councilman Monti Allison said before the 5-to-0 vote to accept this design. “It’s simple, yet it focuses on the logo, and you can recognize it at a distance.”
