Four arrested in raid on hub for fake currency distribution

Four people from the same household have been arrested after sheriff’s deputies identified their residence as the source of numerous counterfeit bills that have recently popped up across northern Alamance County.

According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, reports of this fake currency began to surface on May 10 as businesses throughout this part of the county received the dubious paper as payment for gas and other items – or in exchange for real legal tender.

The sheriff’s investigators eventually traced this funny money to a home at 724 Morton Drive, which is located outside the municipal limits of Burlington. Deputies proceeded to raid this dwelling on Tuesday and found more fraudulent bills as well as illegal narcotics and several firearms – some of which had previously been reported as stolen.

Tuesday’s raid also resulted in the arrests of two white men and two white women who reside at the Morton Drive residence. The sheriff’s office has identified these individuals as 47-year-old Kevin Craig Davis, 44-year-old Shannon Deane Davis, 27-year-old Dustin Craig Davis, and 28-year-old Rachel Marie Hall.

Shannon Davis has also been charged with two additional felony counts for obtaining property by false pretense, two others for uttering a forged instrument, and misdemeanor violations for resisting a public officer and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The sheriff’s office has also charged Dustin Davis and Rachel Hall with felonies for uttering a forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretense.

In the meantime, Dustin Davis faces an additional felony-level charge for the possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

According to the sheriff’s office, Kevin Davis has been placed under a $175,000 bond since his arrest, while the bond for Shannon Davis is set at $210,000. The sheriff’s office has reported no bond for either Dustin Davis or Hall.
