Here’s a look at Friday night’s football games involving Alamance County teams:
Williams at Southern Alamance
Both teams hold 1-1 records. This will be Southern’s home opener, while Williams will be on the road for the first time.
Southern has won three of the last four meetings in the series, including last season when the matchup was a non-league clash to begin a new four-year cycle.
So for the time being, this matchup comes somewhat early on the schedule after it had been considered a conference rivalry game.
Eastern Guilford at Western Alamance
These neighboring schools were once conference rivals. Eastern Guilford’s coaching staff has former Western Alamance’s staffers among its group.
Western Alamance (1-1) bounced back last Friday night from a loss to Reidsville the previous week to knock off Cummings.
Eastern Guilford (0-2) has slipped from a year ago when it didn’t lose for the second time until the final game of the regular season. Coach Tony Aguilar’s team has fallen to Northern Guilford and Williams.

LOOKING AHEAD: Friday, September 2
Week 3 schedule
Williams at Southern Alamance, 7:00
Eastern Guilford at Western Alamance, 7:00
Cummings at Orange, 7:00
Graham at Bishop McGuinness, 7:00

Eastern Alamance at Northern Guilford
These teams played some classics when they were in the same conference at times in the last decade. This one looks enticing as well on the non-league slate as both teams hold 2-0 records.
The Eagles remain on the Class 3-A level, while Northern Guilford has joined the Class 4-A ranks. Last week, Eastern topped Class 4-A Southern Alamance.
Northern Guilford has racked up 100 points in two games.
Cummings at Orange
Cummings (1-1) will try to recover from a disastrous fourth quarter in last week’s home loss to Western.
This is the first of four matchups with Alamance County schools for Orange (0-2) this season.
The Panthers were outscored by a combined score of 68-17 in losses to South Granville and Chapel Hill.
Graham at Bishop McGuinness
Both teams are 0-2.
Graham has scored just 12 points with a touchdown in each of its games.
The Bishop McGuinness Villains have managed to score 46 points in their two games.
