Future superintendent welcomed back home

Pictured from left to right are: Alamance-Burlington school board chairman Sandy Ellington-Graves, vice chairman Patsy Simpson, and the new ABSS superintendent, Dr. Dain Butler, at a reception that the board held Wednesday afternoon to introduce Butler to the community.

Approximately 100 people, including numerous local elected officials and community members, attended the reception at the ABSS central office in Burlington.

A 1994 Southern High School graduate, Butler began his career in education with ABSS in 1999 as a teacher at Broadview Middle School, later becoming an assistant principal, principal, and central office administrator.

Butler was hired earlier this month.  He is currently employed as a senior director for principal pipeline with Guilford County schools and previously served as superintendent of the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District in Halifax County from 2016 until 2021.
