A man from Gibsonville has been arrested for allegedly stalking and harassing two female realtors from an Alamance County realty company.
Malik DeAndre Pitts was taken into custody on Tuesday following a two-month investigation by the office of Alamance County’s sheriff into the alleged acts of harassment.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators launched the inquiry on June 6 after they were notified that two realtors from the same local real estate agency had received sexually-explicit text messages and calls from a source unknown to them. Information from cellular carriers allowed the sheriff’s office to trace these lewd communications back to Pitts.
The sheriff’s office went on to charge Pitts with one misdemeanor count of stalking and another for making a harassing phone call. By the time the agency obtained warrants for these offenses, the 29-year-old black male, who hails from 7233 Abb Road in Gibsonville, had several other charges pending against him in Alamance County.
Court records indicate that several of Pitts’ earlier charges stem from an alleged episode of domestic violence that was reported to Burlington’s police department on May 31. These charges include the felony-level offense of burning personal property as well as misdemeanor assault on a female. Pitts also has faces misdemeanors in Graham for the alleged possession of an illegally concealed handgun and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop.
In the event, the sheriff’s office was able to track Pitts to an address in High Point, where he was located on Tuesday by a member of High Point’s municipal police force. Court records indicate that the police officer had some trouble getting Pitts to exit the residence, which garnered the suspect yet another misdemeanor for resisting a public officer.
According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, Pitts was initially jailed without bond following his capture on Tuesday.
