Going, going, gone; former pharmacy bldg. razed to make way for convenience store & gas pumps

Workers are well along in tearing down and hauling off the remains of an old pharmacy at 2127 Chapel Hill Road that has stood vacant since its most recent occupant, the Rite-Aid pharmacy chain, was purchased by Walgreens.

The pharmacy’s destruction follows the approval of a demolition permit that Burlington’s inspections department formally issued on May 18.

The inspections department has also received applications for a new gas station and convenience store at this location. One submission, which the department received last June, indicates that the new building would feature a drive thru window along with 4,743 square feet of floor space.
