Graham gets green added to fire hydrants, thanks to inmates

Categories:

Fire hydrants within the Graham city limits will get a fresh coat of paint – red topped with a bright green nut stem – as part of joint project between the Graham fire department and Alamance County sheriff’s office.

Pictured is the newly-painted hydrant near Sesquicentenial Park at the intersection of N.W. Court Square and North Main Street in downtown Graham.

The work is being completed by inmates being held at the Alamance County jail on nonviolent misdemeanor charges, according to the sheriff’s office. Painting began Monday, and is expected to continue for several weeks.
