Graham’s police department assisted the Alamance Alcohol Law Enforcement Response team in conducting a compliance check on alcohol sales in June, according to a release from the police department issued Thursday, August 4.
Twelve of 42 ABC-licensed establishments failed their compliance check, a 28 percent failure rate – although an improvement over an earlier check in March when 40 percent of stores failed.
The purpose of this operation, according to police, was to ensure compliance with state law prohibitions on underage alcohol sales.
Among Alamance County establishments with ABC permits, 42 were checked. Of those, 12 were found to have violated the law and sold an alcoholic beverage to the underage participants. The 12 stores cited for failing to comply are listed as:

PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION: A subsequent release from the Graham police department (on August 19, 2022) removed Loves Travel Stop, 1217 Trollingwood-Hawfields Road from the non-compliance list, which had been included on the department’s initial release of August 4, 2022. “This was an error made while compiling notes and information from various agencies,” according to Captain Tony Velez, support services division commander and the Graham police department’s public information officer. The same correction added, instead, a truck stop on the opposite side of the same interchange, Pilot Travel Center, 1342 Trollingwood-Hawfields Road, as a non-compliant location.
