A Graham man with a prior record of child sex-related offenses has been arrested on multiple alleged charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Thomas Shane Matherly, 46, white male, of 706 Aspenwood Drive, Graham, has been charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor; third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor; and failure to register “to an online identifier” as a sex offender.

Matherly was arrested Tuesday following an investigation that began last month into alleged dissemination of child pornography on social media, the Graham police department announced Wednesday. Matherly had previously been convicted in federal court in December 2000 of interstate travel for the purpose of having sex with a minor and in January 2004 for possession of child pornography. He was registered in Alamance County as a recidivist sex offender, the police department.
Matherly was taken to the Alamance County jail and held on a $175,000 secured bond, according to the Graham police department.
