Mebane city officials and other local officials gathered Friday to break ground on the site of a new charter school, Carolina Achieve, that’s scheduled to open this August at 6920 West Ten Road, on the eastern outskirts of Mebane’s city limits and in western Orange County.

Also present for the groundbreaking were: Mebane Business Alliance representatives; Carolina Achieve founder/board president John Oxaal and several other board members; representatives from Hubrich Contracting of Durham, which is building the charter school; and other representatives from the Hillsborough/Orange County chamber.
The new charter school will be built at the intersection of West Ten and Rock Quarry roads, approximately five minutes from the Buckhorn Road exit off I-85/40.
Carolina Achieve is scheduled to hold open enrollment for its first students tomorrow, at 4:00 p.m.
It will be the fifth charter school serving students in Alamance County, though enrollment will be limited initially to students in kindergarten through second grade for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.
