A firearm was confiscated from a student at Western High School Wednesday afternoon. The gun seizure occurred “without incident,” according to a release from ABSS public information officer Jenny Faulkner.
Western High School was locked down after receiving a tip that a gun may have been brought on campus, Alamance-Burlington school system officials announced late Wednesday.
The firearm was confiscated from a student during a search by the School Resource Officer at Western High School, Faulkner said in a release.
“There was not a threat involved either to the school or to students,” Faulkner said. “The school was on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes without incident.” Parents were notified that the school had been locked down, and the firearm confiscated, via the school system’s automated messaging system, ConnectEd, she added.
The Alamance News has learned that the gun was confiscated from a 14-year-old female student.
