Here are highlights from recent high school competitions:
Baseball
- Eastern Alamance’s winning streak reached three games with Tuesday’s 10-1 home victory against Cedar Ridge. Conner Horner homered and scored three runs, while Kasen McGinnis and Zack Merchel combined on a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Jarrett Newell drove in four runs when the Eagles won 10-3 at Greensboro Page last week.
- Southern Alamance topped host Williams 6-3 on Friday night, with Nathan McNeal, Mark King and Cooper Partin combining to strike out 15 batters.
Partin knocked in four runs as Southern defeated visiting South Granville 12-1 on Tuesday night.
- Cooper Marks’ double sparked Western Alamance’s six-run sixth inning to break a tie in an eventual 13-4 victory at Williams on Tuesday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Jorge Banda, Bryce Renner and Jack May drove in runs in the big inning. Earlier, Gavin Davis had a two-run, two-out single in the fourth to tie the game.
Renner was the winning pitcher in relief. Charlie Smith and Vince Coker had back-to-back doubles for Williams.
The rematch is Friday night at Western.
- Southeast Alamance won three in a row, including consecutive shutouts with last Thursday’s 22-0 rout at Eastern Guilford and Tuesday night’s 11-0 decision at Jordan-Matthews.
- Burlington Christian Academy boosted its record to 10-1 by defeating visiting Bethany Community 6-3 on Monday with Davis Phillips homering and Gib Wirt driving in two runs. Anthony Valdez pitched six innings for the victory.
Softball
Cheyenne Kilmer, Camryn Rodrigues and Kyndal Wilborn all scored three runs as Western Alamance defeated host Williams 18-0 in four innings Friday. Rodrigues had four hits.
The Warriors lost 3-0 at Cedar Ridge on Tuesday.
- Eastern Alamance built a three-game winning streak, capped by Saturday’s 7-2 non-league triumph at Southeast Alamance. Edie Stewart homered in that game, while Addison Hester and Stewart both scored two runs. Eastern pitcher Delani Straughan struck out nine.
Eastern plays Friday night at Southern Alamance.
- Southern has won two straight, including by 13-6 at Orange on Tuesday.
- Southeast’s 15-0 victory against visiting Graham on Friday included Anna Thomas’ home run and Addison Reich’s three runs batted in.
Girls’ soccer
Graham notched its first victory last week by defeating winless Cummings 2-0 at home.
- Southern Alamance claimed a 1-0 home victory against Williams on Monday in the Central 3-A Conference.
- Western Alamance won 6-0 at Orange on Monday with Kayley Lee posting three goals, Callie Athas scoring twice and Camilla Bentley adding a goal.
- Abby Brinker scored two goals and Ryen Gibbs had a goal and an assist in Eastern Alamance’s 3-0 non-league victory at East Chapel Hill last week.
- Williams won 3-2 in non-league action at Asheboro last week as Emerson Tirgrath scored two goals and Harper Holt had the other goal, while McKinley Metts notched two assists.
Boys’ lacrosse
Williams rolled up a 19-4 road victory against Western Alamance on Tuesday.
Williams lost 11-6 at home to Orange a day earlier. Last week, the Bulldogs topped visiting Eastern Alamance 15-2.
- Eastern has lost four straight after Tuesday’s 18-3 setback to visiting Orange.
