Eastern Alamance’s boys’ soccer team won back-to-back Mid-Carolina Conference home games to begin league play this week.
The Eagles blasted Roxboro Person 9-0 on Monday and edged winless Southern Alamance 3-2 on second-half goals from Logan Grimshaw, Hudson Link, and Kaden Oliver on Tuesday. Grimshaw notched four goals against Roxboro Person.
- Williams’ Eddie Alejo scored two goals and supplied two assists and Ethan Massai, Peter Kirk and Noah Pachano all had one goal in Monday’s 5-0 Mid-Carolina Conference road victory against winless Cummings on Monday. Dylan Ward made five saves.
- Western Alamance improved its overall record to 9-0 by winning 8-0 vs. visiting Graham in Monday’s Mid-Carolina Conference game with Grant Bacchus racking up four goals and Franky Maya scoring twice, while Camden Oliveira had one goal and two assists and Noah Rouse had one goal and one assist.
Last week, the Warriors defeated visiting Carr-boro 3-0 on goals from Elio Anguiano, Brian Villa-nueva Herrera, and Kevin Merlo. Eamon Hipps made four saves for the shutout.
- Southeast Alamance won its Mid-Carolina Conference opener by 7-1 at Southern Alamance, with two goals from Noah Teabout and one apiece from Zwe Maung, Matthew Espinoza, Ethan Martinez, Anthony James, and Colin Lance in Monday’s game.
Last week, visiting Southeast was denied when Orange goalkeeper Hector Garrdio made a save on a penalty kick with 39 seconds remaining to protect what became a 1-0 victory.
- Clover Garden won its third straight game by defeating visiting River Mill 3-1 on Monday in the Central Tar Heel 1-A Conference. Garrison Wom-ble, Andrew Elsdon, and Charlie Castaneda scored goals and Ethan Saunders was credited with 11 saves.
- Sebastian Urgiles scored all the goals when The Burlington School defeated host Burlington Christian Academy 8-0 last week. Urgiles had two more goals Tuesday, but the Spartans fell 3-2 to visiting Carolina Friends.
- BCA topped visiting Hawbridge School 2-0 on two goals from Gracen Tice on Monday.
- Alamance Christian School won its fourth straight with Tuesday’s 7-1 decision against Union Grove Christian.
Volleyball
Southern Alamance topped visiting Western Alamance in five sets Tuesday night. Southern swept host Cummings last Thursday, then lost in three sets Monday at Uwharrie Charter Academy.
The setback to Southern snapped Western’s five-match winning streak that included sweeps of McMichael and Williams last week. Reese Walker had 22 kills and Riley Walker provided 31 assists in the Williams match.
- Southeast Alamance topped visiting Eastern Alamance in four sets Tuesday for its fifth victory in its last six matches. Victoria Vazquez’s 36 assists, Emily Troy’s 16 kills, and Brooke Hardister’s 13 kills helped the Stallions.
- Eastern won with sweeps last Thursday against visiting Graham and Monday at South Granville, where Bailey Blalock delivered 15 service points and Kayden Manning notched 14 points, while Hannah Batista had 15 assists.
- Clover Garden won in three sets at home against The Burlington School on Monday with Hanna Tickle’s 16 assists, Chloe Welch’s 10 digs, and Gracelyn Brame’s nine service points providing boosts.
- Burlington Christian Academy swept visiting The Burlington School last week with Sammy Dove delivering 16 kills and eight digs and Kirsten Ellington posting 15 assists.
Girls’ golf
Gabriella Moorehead of Williams shot 2-under-par 34 on Monday at Caswell Pines Golf Club in Yanceyville in Mid-Carolina Conference girls’ golf. The runner-up was teammate Debbie Monahan with 36.
Willams won the team competition with 116 compared to second-place Southern Alamance’s 132 among seven teams.
In an earlier conference match at Graham’s Southwick Golf Course, Southern’s Riley Bush posted 35 for the best score, with Monahan with 39. In a match at Quaker Creek Golf Course in Mebane, Bush, and Moorehead tied with 38s.
