Nurse wanted for embezzling opioids from Burlington Hospice

Categories:

A hospice nurse from Greensboro has been accused of embezzling large quantities of an opioid-based pain killer from her employer in Alamance County.

Lindsay Story is currently wanted for misappropriating more than 600 vials of hydromorphone, which is also sold under the trade name Dilaudid, from the Hospice Home in Burlington between April and August of this year.

According to the city’s police department, the 39-year-old Greensboro resident had siphoned off these missing vials by falsifying medication dispensation records using her access to the hospice home’s computer system. Her alleged fraud was ultimately revealed by an internal audit that AuthoraCare, the hospice home’s operator, shared with the city’s police department in late August.
