A Greensboro-based wholesaler of interior décor has found a new set of digs for itself within the municipal limits of Burlington.
Known as Fancy That, this family-owned importer has already begun to move some of its stock into an existing building at 1357 Industry Drive – not far from the intestate interchange for Maple Avenue.
Fancy That ultimately intends to relocate its operations to this property, which it acquired in mid September for a sale price of $2 million. The company’s website has already been updated to reflect this change of address for Fancy That’s headquarters, although its owners will apparently hold onto their Greensboro property in order to lease it to some other firm.
Since it closed on the property along Industry Drive, the company has certainly struck the fancy of Burlington’s economic developer Adam Shull, who believes that this new corporate transplant has made a truly inspired choice with its relocation.
“In Burlington, Fancy That has positioned itself in a growth corridor that will continue to see investment and new opportunity,” Shull went on to elaborate in a statement to The Alamance News. “Their new site is just five minutes from I-85/40, making for smooth logistics and shipping. . . I look forward to supporting their success as they grow and thrive here.”
Owned by Steve and Carmen Mendelson, Fancy That styles itself as an importer of “vacation destination décor” that serves both gift retailers and the interior design industry.
According to county property records, the company’s new holdings in Burlington include a 21,000 square-foot edifice and roughly 5.7 acres in grounds – which presently have an assessed tax value of just under $1.5 million. Located on the south side of I-85/40, this property will apparently augment Fancy That’s warehousing in Greensboro, while providing office space for some of its staff.
